Halsey // Lollapalooza
Halsey transports her audience to her own personal Badlands in concerts. Her songs have a dark, eerie, late night in a hotel room feeling. At one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Halsey made sure to give it her all.
As one of her biggest & longest fans, I was expecting a lot. But, being her biggest fan made me realize that she could spend the whole hour just standing there & I would still be stunned. Luckily, it was the former.
The first few songs, Gasoline, Hold Me Down, & Castle, were magical. She gave the beginning to her most hardcore & dark songs. Wearing little pink shorts & a t-shirt tied up, Halsey gave the performance that gave everyone the chills. Her voice, aura, & songs showed everyone that Halsey is not playing around.
The next couple songs, Haunting, The Feeling (Justin Bieber cover), & Roman Holiday, were great. They lifted everyone's spirits from the dark, got people dancing, & made everyone feel like a connection was happening; from the audience to Halsey, & to one another.
Throughout the whole set, Halsey made some of her morals very clear. During "Hurricane", she reminded everyone "that you do not belong to anyone but yourself." Her live songs sound very similar to the studio versions, sometimes throwing in some commentary or different lyrics.
All in all, it was & will always will be one of my favorite memories. If you have the chance to go see her live, I highly suggest it. She makes everyone get hype, dance, sing, & feel connected.
